Job Title: Digital Forensic Manager
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Digital Forensics is seeking experienced and motivated Managers to join two key teams: Digital Devices and Frontline Services.
These roles offer an exciting opportunity to lead and develop high-performing teams at the forefront of digital forensic investigation. You will play a critical role in delivering efficient, high-quality services that support the investigation of serious crime across the MPS.
As a manager, you will provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to your team. You will oversee operational demand, assess staffing needs, and allocate resources effectively to ensure timely and efficient delivery of casework in line with Criminal Justice (CJ) system expectations.
You will:
- Lead the day-to-day management and throughput of forensic casework
- Monitor team performance, capability, and wellbeing
- Analyse management information to identify trends and drive improvements
- Ensure compliance with MPS values, standards, and HR policies
- Be accountable for team performance and delivery of departmental objectives
- Provide updates on progress of submissions to both officers and the court
- Manage expectations on technical capability and turnaround times
- Provide advice and guidance to MPS personnel on submissions and examination timelines
- Drive continuous improvement and support the implementation of new procedures, working closely with DF Technical Leads
The Teams
Digital Devices (Lambeth HQ)
You will work alongside two other Digital Forensics Managers to lead a large team of approximately 35 Digital Forensic Specialists. The team delivers complex digital forensic casework, and you will be responsible for their day-to-day management, performance, and welfare.
Frontline Services (Pan-London)
This role supports Frontline Services operating across 14 locations within the MPS. You will collaborate with three other DF Managers to ensure operational demand is met consistently across all sites, maintaining a responsive and effective service, ensuring line managers are overseeing their staff's day-to-day management, performance, and welfare.

Additional Information
Successful candidates will need to provide a DNA and fingerprint elimination sample for Forensic Services' embargo database.
Digital Forensics may be introducing a 24/7 operating model as part of an investment and transformation plan to ensure the best service to support operational policing. These teams will work on a rotational shift pattern compromising early, late and night shifts, inclusive of weekends. All new staff are eligible to be placed on a shift rota subject to the relevant notice given, however in the first instance placements on these teams will be allocated to those who volunteer, any remaining places will be allocated by management and will also be subject to certain skills required to support out of hours services.
This post does not currently fall within the structure of the 24/7 teams, however by applying for this role you understand that you could be placed on one of these 24/7 shift teams in the future should business need require it. This will be subject to consultation and a notice period.
This role does not attract Shift Disturbance Allowance. If you are currently in a shift-working role, SDA should cease upon appointment to this job.
