Crime Scene Investigator Tier 2 -EMSOU

About the Role

We are seeking a Regional Crime Scene Investigator to join the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Forensic Services (EMSOU-FS) team. In this specialist role, you will provide high-quality crime scene investigation support across the East Midlands region, helping to maximise forensic opportunities and support the successful investigation and prosecution of crime.

Working across a range of incidents, from volume crime through to serious and major investigations, you will play a key role in delivering an effective and professional forensic service while demonstrating the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and compliance with the Police Code of Ethics.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Conducting crime scene examinations for volume, complex, serious, and major crimes.
  • Identifying, recovering, and preserving forensic evidence to support investigations and criminal justice outcomes.
  • Providing expert forensic advice and guidance to investigators.
  • Working in compliance with ISO 17020 standards and Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice.
  • Supporting specialist workstreams, including areas such as Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) and CBRN operations.
  • Assisting regional specialist units through operational and covert forensic support where required.
  • Participating in a regional on-call rota and working across a 7-day operational pattern.
  • Maintaining specialist equipment, vehicles, and resources to ensure operational readiness.
  • Attending court to provide evidence and explain findings when required.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development, innovation, and improvement of forensic services across the region.
