Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) – CPAI Online Coordination Manager

Secondment Opportunity - 12 month secondment with a rolling review subject to funding allocation and performance. 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Detective Chief Inspector to take on a unique and high-impact national leadership role, shaping the policing response to online child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

This newly established post responds to the growing scale, complexity and evolving nature of the online threat. Representing the NPCC Child Protection and Abuse Investigation (CPAI) portfolio, you will work in close partnership with the National Crime Agency (NCA), Hydrant Programme and the Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Taskforce to deliver a more coordinated, effective and sustainable national response.

As the national lead for online CSAE, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and coordination of the national policing response
  • Lead the development and delivery of a cohesive national online CSA strategy
  • Drive delivery of the end-to-end review, enhancing risk-based prioritisation, operational efficiency and system integration
  • Strengthen alignment across intelligence, investigation, safeguarding and data to support a joined-up approach
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across policing, government and third sector organisations, including Hydrant, NCVPP and wider safeguarding partners
  • Ensure training and capability development reflects emerging threats, legislative changes and advances in digital policing

This role offers a rare opportunity to influence national policy and practice while improving outcomes for victims and survivors. You will play a critical role in developing a sustainable, intelligence-led and victim-focused system—ensuring policing remains agile and effective in safeguarding children and bringing offenders to justice.
