Force Intelligence Researcher - HIOWC 360

Our ‘Research & Analysis’ team is looking for an Intelligence Researcher, the role is critical in helping the force with its purpose of making Hampshire and the Isle of Wight ‘Safe for Everyone’. 

 

About the role

Critical in helping the Force with its purpose of making Hampshire and the Isle of Wight ‘Safe for Everyone’.
To identify, gather, evaluate and disseminate information to support problem solving on a range of complex operational challenges the Force and our partners face.

You will also: 

1. Carry out intelligence research using qualitative and quantitative 
information from a wide range of open and closed information sources, 
at either local or Force level.  

2. Maintain a high level of proficiency in Internet Intelligence 
Investigations (III) research. Take personal responsibility to maintain 
access to systems that enable timely, accurate and effective research. 

3. Collaborate with customers to assist with problem solving and identify 
appropriate and relevant data sources for the task/meet the objective. 

4. Regularly scan intelligence and crimes to identify emerging trends and 
threats in priority locations or crime types. Attend tactical meetings and 
raise high-risk nominals, locations, vehicles and crime series for further 
action, decision-making and/or management. 

5. Collect, collate and evaluate information, including the exploitation of 
overt and covert internet intelligence, to drive intelligence development 
on proactive and reactive operations. Provide tactical advice regarding 
the use of overt and covert open-source tools. 

6. Form part of an intelligence cell (planned or spontaneous) for covert 
operations and major Force events as required.

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 2 (5 passes to include English 
Language and Maths) OR work experience deemed to have 
brought the postholder to a comparable level. 

Essential Experience

Experience of researching and collating data

Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and timely reports

Demonstrate a basic understanding of research processes and techniques

Ability to use own initiative and possessing good time management skills

Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Good literacy and numeracy skills
