Role: Night Challenge – Training Walk Assistant Volunteer

Department: Community Safety Unit

Location: Northbank

Hours:  8 Hours per month (Flexible)

Contract: Permanent

Humberside Police are looking for someone to assist with the training of our walking supervisors for our annual Night Challenge event on the Northbank.

Becoming a volunteer for Humberside Police is a great way to enhance your CV and get involved in local community events.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out Training Walks detailing the route to Walking Supervisors
  • To highlight challenge Sites along the route, pointing out ‘Dibber’ locations and road crossing points.
  • You will support the Tactical and Safety Role within Night Challenge
  • To highlight any issues along the route and raise them with the Night Challenge Lead

 

Skills and knowledge required:

  • Ability to walk long distances (the training walks are 14 miles long) over hilly terrain
  • Ability to read a map and guide groups of people around the route (with support)
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Able to follow advice and direction from others
  • Access to walking boots and clothing

 

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:

  • Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK to apply for roles with Humberside Police.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment. (Please note, with holding any information asked by the vetting department, may delay the vetting procedure, or result in your vetting been refused and the offer of employment been withdrawn)
  • Tattoo’s will be reviewed as a part of the recruitment process to ensure we maintain a level of professional standards and to make sure the images do not cause offence or are unacceptable.

It is not likely that closing dates will be extended, other than in exceptional circumstances and would need to be with the permission of the Recruitment Manager and Line Manager of the role.
