Joi n Operation Wolverine - Part of GMP’s Transport Policing and Crime Command (TPACC)
Operation Wolverine is now recruiting into newly established roles following a successful pilot and welcomes applications to be part of a specialist, intelligence-led operation focused on tackling uninsured and unlicensed driving.
This is chance to be part of a team that plays a critical role in protecting communities and supporting Vision Zero—Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s strategy to eliminate deaths and life-changing injuries on the region’s roads by 2040. This is a demanding but highly rewarding forward-facing role—your decisions and actions will directly reduce risk on the roads, protect communities across Greater Manchester, and help prevent serious harm and save lives.
The role involves:
- Managing the retention, release, and disposal of seized vehicles under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
- Applying legal knowledge and understanding to ensure decisions are lawful, proportionate, and defensible.
- Supporting an intelligence-led operation tackling uninsured and unlicensed driving, with a focus on repeat offenders.
- Contributing to public safety and harm reduction, aligning with Vision Zero to reduce road casualties.
- Engaging with the public and partners, using strong communication skills to resolve queries and handle disputes effectively.
Operation Wolverine are based at Urmston Police Station and operate Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am and 6pm.
