We are looking for individuals from all backgrounds to join our Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs). As a member, you will share your experiences, perspectives and knowledge to help ensure policing is fair, inclusive and responsive to the needs of all communities.

About the Role

Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs) are made up of members of the public who meet to provide independent advice, ideas and constructive challenge on local policing matters.

As an IAG member, you will act as a ‘critical friend’— offering insight into how policing activity may impact different communities and helping to improve trust and confidence.

You will:

  • Attend a minimum of three meetings per year
  • Share your lived experience and community insight
  • Provide constructive challenge to policing activity and decision-making
  • Support discussions around local issues affecting communities
  • Contribute to scrutiny and conversations about how policing services are delivered
  • Share appropriate information within your communities and feedback on how it is received

Additional Information

  • This is a voluntary role

  • You must live and work within Hampshire or the Isle of Wight

  • Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed

  • Full support and guidance will be provided
