Salary: SO1, £37,020 - £39,276 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

About The Role
You will Support the JOU Force Armourer(s) in maintaining and auditing firearms, ammunition, pyrotechnics, and associated equipment, as well as armoury and magazine audits. You will be required to assist the Firearms Training Department by ensuring equipment readiness and supporting the delivery of training.
The role also contributes to testing and evaluating new weapons to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness, whilst managing assets and ammunition across the JOU, and undertakes tasks such as range inspections, equipment repairs, weapon disposal, and supplier liaison. As the assistant armourer you will help ensure operational readiness, compliance with legislation, and the safe, effective use of firearms across the JOU Force areas, as well as supporting regional requirements.
You will conduct routine inspections and maintenance of firearms to guarantee safety, reliability, and operational effectiveness and also Test and evaluate new weapons and equipment, ensuring suitability, robustness, and cost-effectiveness for varied operational roles.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 3, A Level OR work experience
deemed to have brought the role holder to a comparable level.
IT literate with an ability to assimilate and use new systems
and programs as technology advances.
Essential Experience
Proven ability to operate safely within a hazardous
environment, ensuring compliance with legal and
organisational standards.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral,
with the ability to influence and persuade to prioritise
organisational needs and legislative compliance.
Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working
independently with minimal supervision while
maintaining high standards of accuracy and
accountability.
