Our Volunteer Police Cadets programme gives 13–17 year olds a safe, positive space to learn new skills, meet new people and gain a deeper understanding of policing and community safety.
As a Volunteer Cadet Leader, you will play a vital role in shaping their experience—guiding, mentoring and inspiring young people as they take on new challenges and develop into responsible, resilient members of our community.
This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference while strengthening your own leadership, communication and mentoring skills.
What you will be doing
As part of our supportive leadership team, you will:
- Help deliver engaging weekly cadet sessions during term time.
- Support young people as they build confidence, teamwork and practical life skills.
- Lead or assist with practical, policing‑themed activities.
- Accompany cadets to local events, community activities and operational policing opportunities
- Provide guidance, encouragement and pastoral support to help them thrive.
- Contribute to the smooth running and development of your local unit.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds—no previous cadet or youth‑work experience is needed. What matters is your ability to:

- Motivate and support young people

No policing or youth‑work experience is required—just positivity, commitment and a desire to support young people.
