Job Title: Senior Software Developer - Technology CSC - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ
Salary: The starting salary is £63,409, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 allowance.
The salary is broken down as £60,400 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £65,886. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
As a Senior Software Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing existing systems and shaping the future of counter terrorism police systems.
- To lead on designing and creating bespoke software following agile delivery processes as part of a DevSecOps team.
- Integrating external solutions and scripts to assist in operations and strategic work.
This role requires a flexible working approach and be self-motivated to help ensure that the various environments are well architected and documented.
This role is aligned to the Senior Developer role set out within the Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (DDAT).
You’ll join a new team of Software engineers, working flexibly from home and with an office space in our air-conditioned operations center located east of Birmingham, with easy access from the M6 and M42. A London office location is also available. This is a great opportunity to assist in building a world class development function.

Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- To build future proof reusable code libraries, which can be shared, in-order to drive further efficiencies throughout the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to understand project requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure successful project delivery/
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for process optimization, automation, and productivity enhancement
- Lead on Integration of new services, infrastructure or applications
- Lead development of scripts/solutions
- To keep up to date with the latest software development technologies and methodologies. To write clean and healthy structured code
- To deliver code which is well tested and consistently error free. Design, architect, and develop software solutions that align with business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Lead and mentor other software developers, providing guidance, support, and technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle
- Agile mind set and ability to thrive in collaborative teams.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable using Git, Jira (or similar issue tracking software), and Confluence (or similar wiki software).
- Commitment to code quality and best practices, including writing automated tests and conducting code reviews.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
