Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 allowance.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Payroll Specialist to join our Employee Services team. If you thrive in a fast‑paced operational environment and have a passion for accuracy, compliance, and excellent customer service—this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer the Overpayment Process – Investigate, validate, and process payroll overpayments, ensuring compliance with policy, accurate recovery handling, and sensitivity with employees.
  • Payroll Assurance & Reconciliation – Conduct checks, reconciliations, and data assurance activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll operations.
  • Casework & Customer Support – Resolve payroll-related queries in line with SOPs, policy, and audit standards.
  • Third‑Party Coordination – Liaise with payroll service providers, monitor performance, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support Job Evaluation Activities – Provide administrative and data support to job evaluation tasks.
  • Data & Reporting – Gather, analyse, and prepare payroll data for management information and continuous improvement.
  • Process & Compliance – Ensure adherence to controls, audit standards, and relevant legislation
