Job Title: Solution Architect

Salary: The starting salary is £90,336 which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £87,408 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £96,341 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

As a Solution Architect, you will be pivotal in leading the architecture and continuous improvement of corporate applications, with a particular focus on maximising the value of Oracle Fusion Cloud and related platforms.  

Role Overview 

The Solution Architect is responsible for setting the vision and leading the design, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of corporate applications within MBS. This role is a champion for innovation, automation, and continuous improvement—ensuring that Oracle Fusion Cloud and other key platforms are leveraged to their full potential. You will drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, automate business processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, working closely with stakeholders to deliver solutions that are robust, scalable, and future-ready. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead Innovation: Proactively identify and introduce innovative technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance corporate applications, with a focus on Oracle Fusion Cloud and automation platforms. 
  • Champion Automation: Design and implement automation strategies to streamline business processes, reduce manual effort, and improve service delivery across HR, Finance, and Commercial functions. 
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Establish and lead continuous improvement initiatives, using data-driven insights and feedback loops to optimise system performance, user experience, and business outcomes. 
  • Architect for the Future: Develop and maintain a forward-looking architectural roadmap for corporate applications, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with organisational strategy. 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business leaders, end-users, and technical teams to understand requirements, translate them into effective solutions, and ensure successful adoption. 
  • Integration Leadership: Oversee the integration of Oracle Fusion Cloud with other business-critical systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation. 
  • Technical Excellence: Produce high-quality architectural documentation, facilitate technical workshops, and provide expert guidance to delivery teams. 
  • Risk & Compliance: Identify risks, ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards, and implement mitigation strategies. 
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to product and technology teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.  

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (Master’s desirable). 
  • 5+ years’ experience in Solution Architecture or equivalent senior technical roles and at least 12+ years’ experience working with ERPs and Corporate Applications. 
  • Deep expertise in Oracle Fusion Cloud (ERP, HCM, OIC, FDI) and experience with automation technologies and cloud platforms. 
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman). 
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing automation solutions and driving continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Expertise in security, data protection, and compliance standards. 
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders. 
  • Experience in public sector or policing is desirable 

Desirable Skills 

  • Certifications in relevant technologies or architecture frameworks (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF). 
  • Experience in agile and DevOps environments. 
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards. 
  • Prior experience mentoring and developing technical teams.

  • Practical knowledge of end-to-end services across Finance, HR, and Commercial functions. 
  • Detailed knowledge of product lifecycle processes, including testing and change management.
