Job Title: MBS Finance (SME)

Salary: The starting salary is £60,893, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £57,965 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £63,230 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Met Business Services (MBS) is a new way for the Met to deliver enabling services to all of our officers and staff. MBS is a front-line focused services organisation that sets our people up to succeed, reduces admin, delivers modern user centric end to end solutions and provides a single source of truth for all HR, Finance and Commercial data, providing a critical cornerstone to fix our foundations. 

MBS will help every person and supplier working with the Met by: 

  • Building a modern and efficient industry-standard business services directorate, building and pooling key specialist capabilities, strengthening HR, Finance and Commercial functions whilst removing functional silos; 
  • Designing end-to-end services, building them the needs of the users rather than in functional process silos and seamlessly integrating them regardless of how they are delivered; and 
  • Providing easy-to-use interfaces and ‘one-touch’ services for end-users that leverage the potential of contemporary technologies like automation and low-code workflows.

The role will rely on building good relationships, utilising your knowledge / experience, and managing internal and external SMEs to deliver real value and change for the organisation. An understanding of Oracle Cloud and its suite of tools across all areas in the Finance and Commercial / Source to Pay products is key as well as being able to bring experience around other aligned systems. 

Key Responsibilities 

The Met Leadership have approved the design and implementation of a centralised service delivery model (Met Business Services – MBS), to replace functional services with business services, breaking down silos and building end-to-end services around user requirements. The initial scope of the MBS model will be MPS Commercial, Finance and HR scope of services functions with the flexibility and scalability of bringing additional new services into it.  

A key enabler of the MBS led transformation is the implementation of a new “Products” Capability within Met Business Services.  

The MBS Product Lead – Finance and Commercial will oversee the Finance and Commercial elements which incorporates all financial (AR, AP, GL, O2C, Planning etc..), purchasing and sourcing solutions. We are now looking for a functional subject matter expert to join the Finance & Commercial product team who has a general understanding across the product suite, and specific experience in one or more elements. 

The role holder will support the Product roadmap which is owned by the Product Lead, and created and maintained through extensive collaboration with the Head of Product and the other product teams. 

As part of the role, you will be a subject matter expert for your products and capable of making functional changes to the product as well as working with 3rd parties to deliver the outcomes 

What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for Oracle Fusion Financials, providing hands-on configuration expertise and end-to-end support across the product lifecycle. 
  • Be the main point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on Finance and Commercial related product vision, progress, and priorities deliver agreed outcomes set against your Product Roadmap. 
  • Engage with other SMEs and stakeholders to assess business requirements against current Core Financials capabilities, ensuring prioritisation aligns with resources and business goals 
  • Make functional changes to the products you manage to ensure continuous improvement and maintain industry standards in your projects 
  • Supporting the operational teams in changes they may need to make including testing, change management etc particular around the quarterly patching cycle 
  • Assist with defining and prioritising product features through extensive collaboration and negotiation supported by outcomes and value. 
  • Assist with the analysis of data including customer feedback to understand the pain points and frustrations to drive out improved experience that gain the right outcomes.  
  • Using data to understand trends, compliance, usage etc to create opportunities for improvements that matter most.  
  • Detailed understanding of the technology that supports the product.   
  • Assisting the development teams (internal and external) to support the product development 
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical solutions that supports New Met for London priorities.
