About the role
The Police and Crime Commissioner is committed to putting Victims and Witnesses first, ensuring they receive the right support, understand the Criminal Justice System, and are kept informed throughout their journey.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Horizon team, providing dedicated support and guidance to victims and witnesses of crime as they navigate the Criminal Justice process.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, face-to-face support and advocacy to vulnerable victims of crime throughout the Criminal Justice System. This is a community-based role, working directly with victims in a range of settings to ensure support is accessible, responsive, and person-centred.
Working closely with policing departments and Criminal Justice partners, you'll play a vital role in ensuring victims’ voices are heard and their needs are met.
What you will be doing
- Engage with victims/witnesses in person and within the community to assess their needs and provide tailored support
- Facilitate access to specialist services and local support networks
- Advocacy - providing practical support including court attendance and safeguarding.
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact on Criminal Justice pathways
- Support communication between victims and relevant agencies
- Work collaboratively with policing departments and Criminal Justice partners
About you and your experience
- Experience working in an advocacy or support-based environment.
- Experience of working with vulnerable individuals
- Ability to work independently, using initiative and sound judgement to make timely decisions.
- General awareness of the criminal justice system and criminal justice environment
- Full UK driving licence.
